The Treasurer
Executive Committee

Overview:

An ideal treasurer is someone who may work in an accounting/bookkeeping position at a company or maybe in a bank — although that is not required. To be successful in this role you must, however, have an understanding of basic bookkeeping (debits, credits, revenues and expenses) and light financial presentations.

Alternatively, the role can be split so one person would write the cheques and be the "keeper of the files", while the other kept the books, as well as, prepared the budget and the F/S’s.

The regular monthly responsibilities, duties, and commitments:
• The executive meets once a month on the first Monday of each month (except on holidays).
• The duration of the meeting is approximately 1:30 minutes. The Treasurer is allotted time to give a high-level report of funding requests and a summary of that month's financials.
• The CGPAC has up to 5 general meetings including the AGM. These meetings take about 1 hour and the Treasurer is allotted time to give a summary of that month's financials and a high-level report of funding requests to be voted on by the entire PAC.
• The Treasurer assists the Executive Chair in cheque writing, fund allocation, financial direction and fiducial responsibilities.
• The Treasurer communicates with the rest of the executive committee via email regarding updates and some funding requests discussions by email. Overall 15 to 45 minutes a week.

Who is the ideal person to become a Treasurer:
• Someone that would like to be "in the loop" of what the staff and parents are doing to provide an enhanced school experience to our children.
• Experience with Microsoft Word is a plus and experience with Excel (or Google Sheets, etc.) is required.
• You should have access to a personal computer where files can be kept electronically in case it is necessary.
